the thinker

"love is a cruel and terrible master- one loses oneself for the sake of the other, but in doing so becomes enslaved and miserableto the most capricious of all gods"
Dearest sophocles puts it so well, though i guess here the idea is to be loved ; and the other will be enslaved, while you will gain a formidable friend (the enemy of your enemy...)
then again, this means that love is not an emotion, and to be in love is to enslave oneself, by ones actions... so why is it better to " have loved.... than not to have loved at all...?
Does this mean that we are first animals, but what actually distinguishes us from others is not the thought process, but the innane masochistic trait that wouldnt allow us to be the "fittest" in the jungle.
Tell me what love is, and I will tell you if I have loved, or have been an ignorant, indifferent wtf were you thinking fool!
ps
i bet you think this post is about you.... (rhetoric)
